How to Generate a Summary

There are three convenient ways to open the summary generation tool, depending on where you are navigating in the app.

Method 1: From Quick Actions (Dashboard)

This is the fastest way to start if you have just logged in.

1. Go to your Dashboard.

2. Look for the Quick actions card in the center.

3. Click the Generate summary button.

Method 2: From the Lecture Toolbar

Use this method if you are already viewing a document and want to summarize it immediately.

1. Open a file from the Lectures tab.

2. In the toolbar located directly above your document, click the Summarize button.

Method 3: From the Workspace Menu (Multitasking)

If you are working with multiple windows open side-by-side (e.g., a document on one side and a chat on the other):

1. Locate the horizontal three dots icon (...) at the top right corner of the active window you wish to summarize.

2. Click the icon to open the menu.

3. Select Summarize from the options.

Configuring Your Summary Settings

Once the configuration modal pops up, you have several controls to refine the output:

• Lecture to summarize: Use the dropdown to select your source.

  • Select a specific document (e.g., "Text File 02").

• Language:

  • The system defaults to Auto-detect, matching the language of your source file.

  • You can manually select a different language if you want the summary translated (e.g., source in 🇬🇧 English, summary in 🇩🇪 German).

• Page Range:

  • Click Select specific page range.

  • Enter the Start page and End page.

  • Note: The start page must be at least 1, and the end page must be greater than the start page. This is useful for summarizing just one specific chapter of a long book.

• Template Selection:

  • Choose from the default templates (Cheat sheet, Detailed, Overview, Study plan) or select one of your custom templates.

• Generate: Click the blue Generate summary button to begin. You will see a progress bar ("Summarizing the lecture...") and a motivational quote while the AI works.
