Managing Your Flashcards

Editing, Organizing and Cleaning Up your flashcards

As you progress through your course, your study materials will evolve. You might find a typo in a definition, need to update a formula, or simply want to reorganize your decks for clarity. Keeping your flashcard library clean ensures your study sessions remain efficient and focused.

Renaming Your Decks

There are two quick ways to rename a deck without leaving your workflow:

Method 1: The Sidebar Menu

  1. Hover over the specific deck name in the left sidebar (e.g., "Test File 01").

  2. Click the three dots icon that appears next to the name.

  3. Select Rename from the dropdown menu.

  4. Type your new name and press Enter.

Method 2: Direct Header Edit

  1. Open the deck so its cards are visible in the main view.

  2. Click directly on the Deck Title at the top left of the screen.

  3. The text will become editable instantly. Type the new name and click away to save.

Exporting Your Cards

If you need to move your cards to another platform, you can export them directly from the manager.

  1. Click the three dots icon next to the deck in the sidebar.

  2. Select Anki Export to download a file compatible with other flashcard apps.

Organizing with Folders

To prevent your Flashcards dashboard from becoming cluttered, use the file tree on the left sidebar to group related decks.

  • Create Folders: Use the + Add button in the sidebar to create new folders (e.g., "Week 1-4", "Finals").

  • Group Decks: Keep decks for specific subjects inside their respective course folders (e.g., "Test Folder 1", "Test Folder 2").

Deleting Unwanted Decks

If a deck is no longer needed (for example, a duplicate created by mistake or a test deck), you can remove it to keep your view clean.

  1. Find the deck in your list.

  2. Click the Trash icon located on the deck card.

  3. Warning: Deleting a deck is permanent. If you think you might need the material for a cumulative exam later, consider moving it to an "Archive" folder instead of deleting it.

Updating Individual Cards

  • If you spot a mistake during a study session (e.g., a typo in the answer), you don't have to wait to fix it.

  • Exit the study mode and open the deck in Edit mode to locate the specific card and make changes to the Front or Back text.
