Creating & Customizing Templates
Learn how to build your own summary templates to control the structure, tone, and specific content of your notes.
While acemate comes with powerful default templates, you can create custom ones to fit your specific study style.
Creating a New Template from Scratch
In the "Generate summary" window, look at the Templates section.
Click the + New button on the right.
Name Your Template: Click "Untitled" at the top and type a name (e.g., "My Exam Prep").
General Instructions: Write a prompt telling the AI how to behave.
Example: "Provide a high-level conceptual overview focusing on main ideas and relationships."
Add Sections: Click + Add section to structure the note.
Title: Name the section (e.g., "Key Terminology").
Formulation: Explain what should go here (e.g., "List the top 5 definitions with examples").
Citations: Toggle Include page citations if you want the AI to reference the source material.
Click Select template to save and use it.
The Shortcut: Duplicating an Existing Template
If you like the "Overview" template but want to tweak it slightly, you don't need to start over.
Hover over the template you want to copy.
Click the Duplicate button (often found inside the template details or edit view).
A copy will be created (e.g., "Overview - Copy").
You can now:
Rename the template.
Edit Sections: Click into existing sections (like "Topic Introduction") to change the length or focus.
Add New Context: Add a section like "Context & Significance" to force the AI to explain why the topic matters.
