Studying with Flashcards

Understand how to use the Study feature for flashcards in acemate

The Study Mode in acemate is designed to help you actively recall information. Whether you are doing a quick review or a deep dive using spaced repetition, the interface adapts to your needs.

Configuring Your Session

Before diving into the cards, you can customize how the deck is presented:

  1. Launch Study Mode: Locate your deck in the Flashcards list and click the Study button.

  2. Choose Your Strategy:

    • Spaced Repetition (Recommended): The system prioritizes cards you are likely to forget based on past performance.

    • Random Order: Shuffles the deck regardless of difficulty.

    • Sequential Order: Shows cards in the order they were created.

  3. Set Volume: You can choose to study a specific batch (e.g., "Max 15 cards") or select "All cards" to review the entire deck.

  4. Start: Click the Study button at the bottom of the modal to begin.

The Study Interface

Once the session starts, the interface focuses entirely on the current card:

  • The Question: The front of the card appears in the center of the screen.

  • Need Help?

    • Hint: Click the Hint button (bottom left) for a nudge in the right direction.

    • Ask AI: Click the Ask icon (bottom right) to have the AI explain the concept further.

  • Reveal: When you have formed an answer in your mind, click Show answer.

Rating Your Recall

After revealing the answer, you must grade how well you knew the information. This determines when the card will appear again:

  • πŸ”΄ Again (1 min): You didn't know the answer or got it wrong. The card will reappear almost immediately.

  • 🟠 Hard (5 min): You recalled it, but it required significant effort or hesitation.

  • 🟒 Good (10 min): You answered correctly with moderate effort.

  • πŸ”΅ Easy (X days): You knew the answer instantly. The card will be pushed to a much later date (e.g., 10 days).

Completing a Session

When you finish your set, a summary screen appears:

  • Stats: A breakdown of how many cards you rated Again, Hard, Good, or Easy.

  • Rewards: You earn XP and drops for every completed session to keep your streak alive.

  • Next Steps:

    • Switch to Weak Cards: If you missed several cards, this button appears. Clicking it immediately starts a remedial session focused only on the cards you just struggled with.

    • Continue Studying: If you ace your deck, you can choose to continue with more cards.
